New York, NY, August 1, 2014– Steve Nordstrom and Hal Forkush started UniRisk 20 years ago as part of Universal Holdings in Bermuda. Hal had been the innovator and “godfather” of the Rent A Captive concept, in Bermuda, starting in the 1970’s. In fact, he owned the trademark on it. Steve began working with Hal on individual Casualty programs in the 80’s while on the U.S. brokerage side. Business got so good, they teamed up full time.
Fast forward and UniRisk has been involved in far more than the traditional Casualty programs. Most recently dealing with risk assumption for Benefits side of the business. The recent Affordable Care Act legislation has created consequences leading employers to seek alternative solutions.
